I purchased my NXG-100 smart garage controller soon after they first became available, and for the first few months it was great. But soon I developed a love/hate relationship with the NXG-100 because the sensor would not reliably work. It would sporadically not record the door opening or closing. I mounted and remounted the sensor and magnet, and eventually replaced the magnet portion. Still no love — sometimes it worked, sometimes not. Finally I bit the bullet and replaced the wired sensor with a brand new one. At last, it worked! For about a day. Then it was back to its old intermittent habits.
Finally at the end of my rope, I took down the unit and opened it up to see if the sensor wires looked broken or shorted. Imagine my surprise to see only the tiniest amount of solder on the PC board where the sensor wires connect. Like literally almost none. Both the red and black sensor wires had intermittent connections at the PC board — and came from the factory that way.
So if you have problems with your wired sensor that you can't figure out, it's worth looking inside to check the solder connections.
